Designing an international-student support platform
Connect arrival tasks, academic information and staff help around the student’s current stage.
Organize around the student journey
International students encounter different questions before arrival, during orientation and throughout study. A useful support platform reflects those stages. Start with the tasks and decisions that matter at each point, then identify the campus team responsible for the information. Study Pal explores this connection between guidance and a practical next step.
Make sources easy to inspect
Administrative guidance needs context. Give students a route to the source information and a way to reach the responsible office when their situation requires individual help. A concise explanation can make the first step easier, while source visibility helps both students and staff understand what the guidance is based on.
Join information to action
A deadline is more useful alongside the task it belongs to. A required document is easier to prepare when the student can see why it is needed and where it goes. Review the entire journey from reading an answer to completing the action, including what happens if information is missing or the student needs assistance.
Design for staff as well as students
Student-facing clarity depends on staff being able to maintain information, respond to questions and see the relevant context. Evaluate the staff handoff with realistic examples. A pilot might cover one arrival workflow and one ongoing support process, with feedback from the students and service team who will use them.
